With sadness, I write to let you know that Helen Brown died on 6 August.
She was at home, with her family around her.
Although she resigned from Beckenham Quilters fairly recently, Helen was a committed and involved member
of our group, with a special interest in introducing children to the joys sewing and creating ~ she loved
to run the workshops at the exhibitions and contributed hugely to all our activities.
A close friend of Helen's said she would miss her 'calmness and quiet determination', which seems
to be spot on as a description of Helen, except to add that she was a consummate needlewoman and
created pieces of great beauty.
The funeral is on Tuesday, 17 August.
You can get the details by calling 07952 872 534.
It was Helen's request that people should wear bright colours to the funeral and
some of her quilts will be hanging in the church.
As she loved flowers, Helen's family has said that flowers would be welcome with an alternative
suggestion of a donation to the NSPCC Children Line.
We will send a bouquet on behalf of Beckenham Quilters.
